Oman: Sea

After spending the first day seeing the sights and getting a taste of the culture of Muscat, we opted to spend the second day doing something completely different to experience another side of Oman. Oman has a vibrant coastal community, full of industry and beauty. Seafood is an Omani specialty, and Oman is a great place to explore sea life. We put on the swimmers and sunnies and headed out for a day on a boat.

How the hair flies when riding backwards on a fast boat!

Felt so good to have the warm air rushing by our faces!

Dolphin watching. We saw quite a few, but they are so fast and so unpredictable that I would have had to have spent all day with them to get one decent shot.

Sitting forwardside as we sped through the Gulf of Oman.

Rugged, breathtaking waterways.

We arrived at our snorkel spot to enjoy snorkelling the coral reef in the warm waters of the Gulf of Oman.

After snorkelling, it's back on the boat for a scenic ride back to shore.

Are we going through there??

Back at our guesthouse, rooftop overlooking Muscat.

Our simple, but friendly guesthouse was just right for our family. A cozy, relaxed atmosphere and super friendly hosts made this such a wonderfully unique experience. This Filipino/British run guesthouse made for a perfectly surreal travel experience. Walking through the house furnished with Omani and Filipino fixtures and adornments, with spots of British here and there, like the football jerseys in the stairwell, all of it just made me smile. I love these moments of travel where several unexpected worlds collide reminding you we're not all so different.

Our Filipino/English hosts were not surprisingly enchanted by our family's socialite.

Your kids are beauties. Although, I can't help but think about all the sunscreen that was, most likely, applied each day.
