Boston

Really any place where you spend hours laughing, eating, shopping, talking and generally making up for lost time with your BFF rocks, but Boston under any condition really takes the cake . . . or the cream pie! What a completely fabulous city! Let's see, there's the deep layers of rich early American history that make your chest rise with patriotism. Okay, maybe that was partly due to a serious case of unexpected homesickness that I felt for all things Americana having spent the last 11 months overseas! There's also the colorful cultural influences woven seamlessly throughout; Irish pubs abound and Little Italy makes you want to say "grazie mille" as you sift through the many Zagat listed restaurant options. And once you step foot onto Beacon Hill you begin daydreaming of your very own brownstone. And who could forget the Red Sox! The list goes on with great shopping, entertainment, museums and who doesn't love a good Boston accent?

I didn't take a photo, but my one-hour shopping spree in a suburban Boston Target gets an honorable mention. Thanks, Jen for humoring me and letting me live my Target fantasy! Seriously I've had dreams of this place. Don't ever take the red bullseye for granted!

Boston is one of our very favorite places to visit. After our visit there two years ago, the kids have been begging to go back ever since.

PS They should use your photos in the visitors' guide--they're beautiful!

Are you coming to DC too?

I have a funny Boston story. We have these crazy friends that live in UT. When we lived in DC they came to visit us. Steph says to me "I got us tickets to see the Red Sox, they're Ryans favorite team you know." "Great, are they playing the Orioles?" I replied. "No" she said. "Where are they playing?" I asked starting to become worried. "In Boston of course, I looked on the map and it's only this far away" she says as she holds her fingers about 1/2 and inch apart. Oh Boy!! We did indeed drive to Boston for the game, it was sweltering hot and partway into the game the guys in front of us start chanting "tiny Elvis, tiny Elvis" after which the biggest guy dropped trou. and showed us all the tiny Elvis tattooed on his hiney. We saw Elvis way too many times that day and that is my Boston experience. You could totally go see Lara in DC...it's only this far on the map :-)

Cheers (and mash) my all-time Fav shows growing up as well! I LOVE that you are loving London! Gone are the days of homesick posting (or at least fewer and much further between!)

BTW--You are looking GREAT! Did you start up your own version of Stroller Strides? I see a small group every morning when i run...I think of you several times a week!
