Our girl turned 14! We had a nice, relaxing family celebration with her at home, her choice! We celebrated all weekend long. We had cake and presents on her birthday, and then a bike ride and a taco night the day after. We sure love our beautiful, strong, capable, helpful, determined girl!
7 years ago I accidentally started a tradition when I took Dallin to Rome on a special mother-son trip. I decided he needed a little extra special one on one time, and since he was studying ancient Rome in school a long weekend trip to Rome with my then 10 year-old Dallin was born. It was wonderful. Of course I couldn't not do the same for the other two, so I offered the same to Madeleine when she was 10. She chose a trip to Italy's Cinque Terre. Trevon knew long in advance that he would get the same opportunity when he was 10. We talked a lot about it over the years, and I can't believe that time has now come and gone for our special mother-kid trip together. He chose Rome. He's been to Italy many times before, but never Rome. He really wanted to see the fountain that share's his name more than anything else, and he was also keen to visit some of the ancient Roman sights. We had such a lovely weekend together exploring this wonderful city in absolutely perfect weather!
