Trevi's Fountain

7 years ago I accidentally started a tradition when I took Dallin to Rome on a special mother-son trip.  I decided he needed a little extra special one on one time, and since he was studying ancient Rome in school a long weekend trip to Rome with my then 10 year-old Dallin was born.  It was wonderful.  Of course I couldn't not do the same for the other two, so I offered the same to Madeleine when she was 10.  She chose a trip to Italy's Cinque Terre.  Trevon knew long in advance that he would get the same opportunity when he was 10.  We talked a lot about it over the years, and I can't believe that time has now come and gone for our special mother-kid trip together.  He chose Rome.  He's been to Italy many times before, but never Rome.  He really wanted to see the fountain that share's his name more than anything else, and he was also keen to visit some of the ancient Roman sights.  We had such a lovely weekend together exploring this wonderful city in absolutely perfect weather!

Piazza della Rotunda, where I call home each time I visit Rome

First bites, delicious parma ham and melon and the first of Trevon's 13 gelati!

Visiting the Pantheon.  Trevon was really interested in learning about this place.

At last, a visit to the Trevi Fountain!

Trevon loved stopping to watch all the artists at work

Enjoying the view and sounds from our hotel window overlooking Piazza della Rotunda

Roman walks at night . . . Piazza Navona

Trevon keenly listened to the whole audio guided tour

St. Peter's and the Vatican on our last day

An unplanned Pope sighting!  We just happened to be walking out of St. Peter's when we noticed people beginning to gather around the square.  I quickly went to Google to see if I could suss out the situation, and learned that the Pope appears each Sunday at noon in St. Peter's Square for his Angelus speech.  We were there just in time and got to see and listen to him!  So neat!

Gelato 13!

I let Trevon try his hand at photography and gave him a few mini lessons.  He composed and shot these himself!
