Bali

For spring break we took our first family holiday with all of us together since before Madeleine's mission.  We all met in Bali for a week of relaxation in the sun and time together with a little cultural exploring mixed it.  Dallin flew from Utah through one side of the globe and the rest of us flew from London through the other side of the globe.  We spent most of the week lounging poolside, enjoying card games, fun conversation, tropical drinks and soaking up the sun together, but we did manage a couple of days "off campus" to explore a bit of Bali.

Our first full day together.  Scott, Madeleine, Trevon and I arriving the night before, and Dallin met us in the morning, we ran into him as we were headed down to breakfast, which was lucky for him!  We spent the day poolside, catching up and soaking in the warm southeast Asian sun.  These scenes of the kids playing cards and chatting together are exactly why we made this trip happen.  I cherish these moments.

The St. Regis Bali was a dream.

Our gorgeous rooms, configured into a giant suite, on arrival.  We were definitely spoiled here!

Nightly fire and drum performance at the resort.

Batu Bolong Temple

Tanah Lot

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, so hot and humid but such a beautiful place to explore.

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple

Taman Ayun Temple

I can't fault the St. Regis for a thing.  Such a dreamy resort.

A day exploring the heart of Ubud

Ubud Monkey Sanctuary, this was much more fun and interesting that we expected.  The monkeys were entertaining and the place contains a lot of natural and architectural beauty.

Saraswati Temple

Temple coverings were requisite to the visit, which was a tall ask given the heat and humidity.  The family were good sports humouring me in this.  Not everyone last very long, but long enough for this photo!

Ubud Palace

Massive preparations under way for a royal funeral ceremony

A little shopping in the Ubud Market

Mupu and Pakudu Rice Terrace

Gunung Lebah Temple

Afternoon tea with a big side of aircon back at the hotel after sweaty day of touring.

Good vibes at the resort

We spent most of our time at the pools, but our hotel was set on a spectacular beach

These plumerias rained down on the pool all day every day just adding to the magic

We went through so many of these water bottles!

Easter treats left by the butler

Room views

A quickie photo shoot at the resort

We enjoyed 8 amazing breakfasts and dinner here.
