Last week of our big 7-week USA tour! We flew from Boston to Chicago. Arriving in Chicago we spent the first couple nights in downtown so we could take in the sights of Chicago more easily. Then we drove out to the burbs to spend a few nights with my dear friend Sara at her lovely home. It was so wonderful to stay with her and spend time catching up. I miss her so much since she left London. At the end of our few days in Chicagoland we flew back down to Miami for two final nights in the USA to pick up Madeleine and prepare for our final flight of the summer back home to London.
We took a really cool architecture boat tour on our first evening in Chicago. Chicago is an amazing architectural wonderland.
The Bean!
Fun to spend time in the Loop! We even did an interesting gangster tour to learn about some of the more colourful parts of Chicago.
Chicago deep dish! This stuff is so good, but man is it rich!

Chicago at night
We got to visit the Eppels one afternoon, and this is a peek inside their amazing home in Evanston. Sadly I don't have a single photo from my time with Sara, which is truly terrible. We had a lovely stay there. She is the most amazing hostess. Sure miss having her in London!
And we're off! Farewell, Chicago (a la Kevin MacAllister).
Last couple of days in Miami were filled with shopping, eating and catching last bits of sunshine before we collected Madeleine and flew back to London.
Such an amazing summer! So many wonderful experiences, reconnecting with family and special friends the whole way through. But after 7 weeks on the road, 13 flights, bouncing among 7 states (plus a few other countries for one) we are more than ready to get home. Thank you for the memories, summer 2019! I did myself a huge favour this summer and didn’t travel with my good camera so what I captured is not great, but so glad we have made so many wonderful memories!
