Summer in the USA 2019: Week 2 of 7 Utah

After some wonderful time in California we flew to Utah to meet Scott who flew from London and Dallin down in Ephraim.  We were all excited to be reunited as a family and get to see where Dallin had spent the last year at school as well as see some beautiful places in Utah and other family and friends.  We packed in a lot in our short time there covering a large area of the state from Salt Lake to Richfield to Moab.  It's always hard seeing everyone and doing all the things we want to do when we go to Utah.  There never seems to be enough time.  It was a fantastic week, and the highlight was definitely getting better acquainted with the places and people that meant so much to Dallin the last year.

Dallin at Snow College, where he spent a great first year at school in their outdoor leadership program

Our first visit to the Ephraim Malt Shoppe.  I dare you to find a better grasshopper milkshake.  So good!

Siging autographs, Dallin sometimes gets mistaken for famous people.

Evening shakes!

Meeting Dallin's good friend, Angus.  Such a great guy!

Up at the station up Ephraim Canyon where Dallin spent a good deal of time for some of his classwork.  It's a pretty spectacular facility.  Amazing outdoor experiences.

Evening in Manti

Meeting the Douglases in Richfield whom Dallin did some work for this summer.

A detour to the much heralded Fish Lake on our way to Moab.  So pretty!

Exploring the wonderful red rock delights of southern Utah.  We spent a couple of days in Moab exploring Arches National Park.  So beautiful and so hot!  The only time on our entire USA trip that we had time together just the five of us, so naturally my favourite part of the trip!

Meeting Dallin's best buddy, Dakota, near Salt Lake.  Dallin made some wonderful friends this first year.

We had such a wonderful time with Kenneth and Edee and their family on the fourth of July up in Heber.  So fun to get to celebrate the 4th properly and spend time with family.  So grateful.

Fun BBQ with the Ashtons at Amy's house.  Really lovely to get to see all of them again.  Our kids always feel so happy being with family that share their surname.

So happy we were able to squeeze in a quick stop to see the Coltons.  Not family, but might as well be.  Love them so much!

So great to see Uncle Todd and Judy.

Really glad we could see Uncle Jerry and Aunt Marcia.  It was a difficult visit seeing Aunt Marcia so far down the path of dementia, but I'm so glad we were able to make the visit.  I am so grateful for Uncle Jerry and his good care of her.

Rise and shout, quick swing through the old stomping grounds.  Peace out Utah!
