Goodbye ACS, hello again ASL

Over the last couple of years we were growing ready to make a change, mostly to change schools.  We had many great experiences and enjoyed many happy years at ACS Cobham and the wonderful community there, but felt overall the school was falling short.  It was a terribly difficult decision because we were generally happy, and change is always the path of more resistance.  But once we got to the stage where Dallin was about to graduate, as a family we made the decision to explore other options.  We spent the last year preparing for this, studying out the options and ultimately spending much of our time working on applications for Madeleine and Trevon for the American School in London.  This application is no joke, a pretty intense process that reminded me a lot of applying to university.  After prepping for and taking the school's entrance exam, writing essays, obtaining teacher recommendations and submitting past transcripts we waited.  It's extremely difficult getting into ASL, the odds are against you, but in February we got the news that they were each accepted.  As a family we made the decision to accept these offers of admission and move our family back into central London.  It was difficult saying goodbye to seven years of being a part of such wonderful school and church communities, but the closer we got to leaving the more right it felt.  The summer was a tumultuous one with many bumps in the road of our move, which included being homeless for a month, and sending Dallin off to college in Utah at the same time we were getting Madeleine and Trevon settled at ASL.  It was definitely a summer to divide and conquer.   It has taken a while for us to get settled in our new place, but we are all so very happy to be where we are.  The transition to the school has been really great and we are all happy living in this part of central London.  So proud of these kids for taking on this change and all of the challenges with such positivity and enthusiasm!
