Nepal Part 4: Farewell Chiti

As we began to wrap up our final day in Chiti village I took some photos of our sleeping quarters.  We slept on the floor of the very primitive Chiti village schoolhouse.  The villagers went to great lengths to make it more comfortable for us, which was so kind and also humbling.  It was basically group camping, which I struggled with.  I didn't sleep much during the week, but I would do it all over again.  The experience of this week is just incomparable.  This week gave us a chance to experience a real slice of Nepali life that normal tourism would never create.  It was a beautiful experience.  It brought some of us to the edge of our comfort zones, but it was through this stretching of ourselves that we gained one of the most enriching experiences of our lives.

Farewell ceremony on our last day.  The villagers presented each of us with an award and a special stole.

One last round of Stephash uno on our last night in the village.  Gosh I love these people!

Rise and shine and heading out of the village, our departure was delayed by an emergency medical situation with one of the volunteers.  Gratefully he was okay, but it was a bit scary there for a while.

Final glimpse of the Chiti villagers.  I was sad to leave and very ready to leave all at once.  I still think of these people most ever day.  You can't help but wonder and hope for people that you shared this kind of experience with.  They are forever knit in our hearts.
