If Dubrovnik was our starter, and Bosnia our main, that would make Montenegro our dessert. Unlike the two aforeblogged countries we did not dig deep in Montenegro. The main goal here was a bit of unwinding with stunning scenery. We got a bit more than we planned for. What snow and cold was to Bosnia, rain was to Montenegro. The sun did not shine on us much here, which was a bummer. And we're talking pouring rain, not just sprinkles. The villages' cobbled streets literally became rivers. I could have done with less rain, but we still enjoyed our few days on the beautiful Montenegrin coastline. We stayed on spectacular Kotor Bay, with absolutely breathtaking views over the bay and opposing villages. We visited a few of the bayside villages, most notably Kotor. If Dubrovnik is the pearl of the Adriatic, Kotor is the pearl of the bay.
Rain, we will not be defeated! Our first soggy stroll through Kotor.
Rain and freezing waters didn't stop this lot!
Cruise ships have discovered Kotor.
Smaller, less touristy cousin to Kotor, Perast. Just lovely!
Trevon and "Turbo"
Sun at last! A rewarding hike up all 1350 steps along the fortified mountainside walls high above Kotor . . .
Stunning views of Kotor and beyond . . .
Back on stable ground in old town Kotor.
Stunning evening views from our deck overlooking Kotor opposite.
Last day doing a bit more exploring of the bay before driving back to Dubrovnik for lunch and our evening flight home.
