Sweden

We stopped in two different cities in Sweden, Stockholm and Gotheberg. Gotheberg is Sweden's second largest city, a rather large shipping port and home to the Volvo. It had a few charming corners, but overall was nothing in comparison to Stockholm. Stockholm is easily one of Europe's most beautiful cities! Set on several islands, the harbour fronts are lined with gorgeous architecture and the islands home to various sections of town each with its own flavour.

Gotheberg was actually our last stop on the cruise, and by this point the kids had had their fill of touring the northern capitals. The ship has a marvellous kids program, which they loved! You're even allowed to leave your kids in the kids club while in port! We wanted them to see and experience all of these incredible places, so we brought them ashore with us on every port day. When it came to this last and least impressive port we finally conceded and let Dallin and Madeleine stay on the ship, while the two little boys joined us in town.

On a cruise you have only one shot for a good meal in each port, lunch. Incredibly we scored with every single port lunch. This French country themed place was a real find in Gotheburg's old center. Such a charming lunching spot with great fresh food!

Swedish meatballs. Without a doubt the best port lunch! My mouth waters just looking at this photo.

The Vasa. A Swedish warship built in the early 1600's. Impressive to behold, yet due to a poor design this vessel sank during its maiden voyage not even making it one nautical mile. She was salvaged and brought to a museum in the mid 1900's, and is now one of Sweden's top tourist attractions.

I'm really loving these posts, it looks so fun!! And I just have to ask, was your cruise really as un-crowded as it looks in all your pictures?? The pool looks deserted...that is so nice! We go on a Disney cruise in January, I have a feeling it's not going to be quite so desolate. :)
