Dallin's Roman Holiday

I thought it would be fun to take Dallin on a little trip, just the two of us. I really treasure one-on-one time with each of the kids and sharing my love of travel is something I find great joy in. I gave Dallin the option of choosing any place he wanted within a two-hour flight radius from London. He's had a great time this year studying ancient Rome in school. Never having been to Italy, he quickly zeroed in on Rome as our destination.

Our weekend in Rome was packed with sightseeing trails through ancient Rome, plates of pasta, passeggiatas through fountain-filled piazzas and, of course, gobs of gelato. Dallin did a great job educating me on the differences between a gladiator and a Roman soldier, and was especially excited about seeing the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.

I probably went a little overboard on photos here and Dallin being my only human subject was subjected to more photo pain than normal. He was supremely patient with me as I snapped photos of him in just about every possible location around Rome.

Roman souvenirs: 10 year-old = plastic sword (the wooden ones are trouble). 34 year-old = nothing because the painting I wanted was too expensive, and I'd rather have more budget for gelato :)

Does he know how lucky he is to visit all these cool places?

My favorite shot is the jumping one. We do that one everywhere we go and keep a collection.

Good times. Freely take me on any trip you'd like within 2 hours of London.
