Mom and Dad Trip Part III: Salzburg

Salzburg is associated with the sound of music for both Americans and Europeans alike, albeit for very different reasons. The birthplace of Mozart and home to the world famous music festival held each August, Salzburg holds its place firmly on the world's musical map. For Americans Salzburg conjures up images of Julie Andrews alive with music as she twirls on a grassy hillside or skips through a park. Either way, Salzburg is truly music to the ears!

The Festung Hohensalzburg (gotta love Dallin's super cheerful we're-taking-another-photo face; he has been through more photo pain than the others, so we'll cut him some slack)

I can't say enough times (though you may be tired of it!) how I LOVE seeing your travel photos and how truly stunning they are. I enjoy seeing them so much! It stirs up all kinds of travel dreams in my head. This post is especially fun. After not seeing it for easily a decade, I watched Sound of Music last year and fell in love with it all over again. I think there are elements and nuances of it that I never appreciated as a child (or teen). Is that shade of green on the hills for real? Amazing! That's a great photo of you. I think you mean DOE, a deer, yes?
You know what I'd love to read a post about? (As if you're writing all this for me! ha! But I bet others would feel this same...) Traveling with kids. Like, how do your kids do in hotels, w/ time changes, eating at cafes and other places not necessarily planned w/ kids in mind? How do they handle tours of historic places (your pics of them w/ the kids' audio tour is what sparked my curiosity about all this), all the walking, etc.? I'm sure by now you could write a book on this subject! I'd love to hear about your experiences and tips you have for the rest of us, since you've clearly done lots of traveling and sightseeing with your cute kids at young ages, even before your move to London. Someday I'll hope you'll share!

Splendid photos all, but "The Hills are Alive" takes it.

Ha! I was thinking about this and it dawned on me...yes, doe is a deer, but the musical note is D-O as you've written. When I read your post, I read it as "do" as in "do a job", but that was my mistake, not yours. You're nice not to correct me correcting you, so I'll correct myself! ;) (Why would I correct you in the first place, even if you did have a minor typo? For heaven sakes, it's a BLOG! Sorry, lost my head.)

I wish you could see my face whilst I peruse your lovely blog. I just have a silly grin the whole time. Sound of Music?! That is one of my very favorite shows!!! Love the pics, it looks absolutely beautiful, just like the movie. (I love the red dress too!) Have a swell week. It looks like you had a wonderful time with your folks.
