Paris with Chad and Brooke

What's as awesome as playing tour guide in London?  Playing tour guide in Paris!  Entrusting the kids to our very capable babysitter the four of us set off on a three-day tour of Paris.  It was my 9th visit to the city, and probably the best weather I've ever experienced.  We hit most the big sights and wandered around some of our favourite neighbourhoods.  It was really fun to be there together with Chad and Brooke.

 Notre Dame

 Up the Tour Eiffel

Relaxing on the Champ de Mars

 At Pont d'Alma

 Paris at night!

 Pont des Arts

 Le Louvre

Arc de Triomphe . . . and that piano guy at Isle St. Louis

 Sacre Coeur

It's without a doubt touristy, but I love Montmartre

 Our painting!

Back at Pont des Arts to renew our 5-month lock vows.  Even with a photograph and noting its location previously, it was very difficult to find. 5 months in the elements and our inscription had completely worn off!

 Inside Notre Dame

 Sunday Mass

 Picnic at the Luxembourg Gardens

Flowers on Isle St. Louis, our favourite place to call home when in Paris!

Can't wait for my next trip!

Chad and Brooke in London

At long last my brother and sister-in-law were able to visit us in London.  It was so wonderful having them here.  It also felt so much like two worlds colliding.  We've lived here for 5 years and even with the great advantages of modern technology connecting us with loved ones afar, there is simply no replacement for good old fashioned face time.

We hit the ground running, and did all the grand tours of London.  This was probably my 11th time on the Eye, and honestly it never gets old.  I absolutely love my city!

After our spin around the Eye we set off on foot for a day of London firsts for this pair.  Their visit turned out to be one massive photo shoot (that's what happens when your tour guide is also a photographer!), so prepare yourself for maybe more than a few more shots of these two all around London . . .

 Westminster Bridge

 Trafalgar Square

Around Covent Garden and the West End

 Leicester Square

 Covent Garden and Green Park

When you take a tour with me, it's not just a photoshoot, but also a tour de food

Buckingham Palace . . . and then up to my old 'hood at Abbey Road to make like a Beatle

 Shopping Portobello Road

Lunch at the Orangery at Kensington Palace

 Kensington Gardens

 Borough Market . . .

I love a good Borough Market grazing, and it's especially fun with an adventurous foodie like my brother.  I had forgotten how diverse his palate is, a memory I take from our childhood.

It takes a real San Franciscan to sniff out the real sour dough!

 The Shard (maybe next time?)

 Crossing the Millennium Bridge

 St. Paul's

 In the Underground

One of my very favourite neighbourhoods of London, Primrose Hill.  Not far from where I used to live, I thought it would be nice for them to see a slice of real London living beyond the tourist fray.

 Primrose Hill

There is nothing more gorgeous than Regent's Park on a warm spring day

And for their last night in London we concluded with a whirlwind night tour to see London dazzling in light.
